URG501

URG501 is a follow-on product for the treatment of IC/BPS.

The only approved treatment for IC/BPS is a drug called Elmiron®. It is an oral formulation of pentosan with very low bioavailability and limited efficacy, but nevertheless generates $150M in annual revenue despite being off patent. Use of bladder instillations to address painful flares is common, including URG101, but there is currently no approved / reimbursed product with demonstrated efficacy.
